Setup:

  1. Use a standard 52-card deck.
  2. Remove the 8s, 9s, and 10s from the deck, leaving only the cards from 2 to Ace in each suit.
  3. Shuffle the remaining cards thoroughly and deal 10 cards to each player.

Scoring:

  • Each card has a specific point value:
    • Aces: 11 points
    • Kings: 4 points
    • Queens: 3 points
    • Jacks: 2 points
    • All other cards: 0 points
  • The goal is to win tricks containing high-value cards to accumulate points.

Gameplay:

  1. Turns:
    • Player 1 begins the game.
    • Players take turns playing cards in tricks, with each player having a chance to lead the trick.
  2. Playing Cards:
    • The player with the highest-ranking card in the suit led wins the trick and leads the next trick.
    • If a player does not have a card in the led suit, they may play any card from their hand.
  3. Scoring Tricks:
    • After all 10 tricks have been played, each player counts the points in the tricks they have won.
    • The player who wins more points in tricks scores the difference between their points and their opponent’s points.
  4. Winning the Game:
    • The game consists of multiple rounds, and the first player to reach a predetermined score threshold, usually 100 points, wins the game.

Differentiating Turns:

  • Player 1’s Turn: Player 1 starts the game and leads the first trick.
  • Player 2’s Turn: After Player 1’s turn ends, it becomes Player 2’s turn to lead the next trick.

Summary: Julepe is a strategic 2 player card game where players aim to win tricks containing high-value cards to score points. Adapted for 2 players, the game requires careful card management and trick-taking skills to outscore the opponent. By adjusting the rules and mechanics, Julepe offers an engaging 2 player experience, even though it is traditionally played with more players.
