Hollywood Eights (2 player card game)

Objective: The objective of Hollywood Eights is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand.

Adaptation for 2 Players: Hollywood Eights is typically played with 3 or more players, but it can be adapted for 2 players. In the 2 player version, each player receives a hand of cards, and the game proceeds similarly to the original version.

Setup:

1. Use a standard 52-card deck.
2. Shuffle the deck thoroughly and deal 7 cards to each player.
3. Place the remaining deck face down in the center of the table to form the draw pile.
4. Flip the top card of the draw pile face up to start the discard pile.

Scoring:

• In Hollywood Eights, there is no scoring. The goal is simply to be the first player to get rid of all their cards.

Gameplay:

1. Turns:
   • Player 1 begins the game.
   • Players take turns clockwise, with each player playing one card on their turn.
2. Playing Cards:
   • Players can play a card if it matches the suit or rank of the top card on the discard pile.
   • If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, the player may do so immediately. Otherwise, they add it to their hand.
3. Special Cards:
   • Some special cards may have additional effects:
     • 8s: When played, the next player is skipped.
4. Winning the Game:
   • The first player to empty their hand of cards wins the game.

Differentiating Turns:

• Player 1’s Turn: Player 1 starts the game and takes the first turn.
• Player 2’s Turn: After Player 1’s turn ends, it becomes Player 2’s turn.
