Hola (2 player card game)

Objective: The objective of Hola is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand.

Adaptation for 2 Players: Hola is typically played with 3 or more players, but it can be adapted for 2 players. In the 2 player version, each player receives a hand of cards, and the game proceeds similarly to the original version.

Setup:

1. Use a standard 52-card deck.
2. Shuffle the deck thoroughly and deal 7 cards to each player.
3. Place the remaining deck face down in the center of the table to form the draw pile.

Scoring:

• In Hola, there is no scoring. The goal is simply to be the first player to get rid of all their cards.

Gameplay:

1. Turns:
   • Player 1 begins the game.
   • Players take turns clockwise, with each player playing one card on their turn.
2. Playing Cards:
   • Players can play a card if it matches the suit or rank of the top card on the discard pile.
   • If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If the drawn card can be played, the player may do so immediately. Otherwise, they add it to their hand.
3. Special Cards:
   • Some special cards may have additional effects:
     • 2s: When played, the next player must draw 2 cards instead of playing a card.
     • 7s: When played, the direction of play reverses (clockwise to counterclockwise or vice versa).
     • 10s: When played, the next player skips their turn.
4. Winning the Game:
   • The first player to empty their hand of cards wins the game.

Differentiating Turns:

• Player 1’s Turn: Player 1 starts the game and takes the first turn.
• Player 2’s Turn: After Player 1’s turn ends, it becomes Player 2’s turn.
