Double Solitaire (2 player card game)

Objective: Double Solitaire is a variation of the classic Solitaire game designed for two players. The objective is to be the first player to move all cards from their tableau to the foundation piles.

Setup:

  1. Use two standard decks of 52 playing cards.
  2. Shuffle both decks thoroughly.
  3. Each player sits facing each other with their own deck.
  4. Each player deals out their own tableau in front of them, consisting of 7 piles of cards, with the first pile containing 1 card, the second containing 2 cards, and so on, with the last pile containing 7 cards. The top card of each pile is turned face up.
  5. Both players leave space above their tableau for four foundation piles.

Gameplay:

  1. Starting the Game:

    • Decide who goes first. Player 1 will start the game.
  2. Taking Turns:

    • Players take turns, with each player making moves in their own tableau.
    • During a player’s turn, they can make the following moves:
      • Move cards between tableau piles according to traditional Solitaire rules: cards can be moved in descending order and alternating colors.
      • Move cards from the tableau to the foundation piles in ascending order, starting with the Ace and building up to the King.
      • Draw cards from their own deck and play them onto the tableau or move them to the foundation piles.
  3. Scoring:

    • The game is won by the first player to successfully move all cards from their tableau to the foundation piles.
    • Scoring is not typically used in Double Solitaire, as the objective is simply to win the game.

Adaptation for 2 Players:

  • In the 2-player adaptation, each player manages their own tableau and foundation piles independently.
  • Players take turns playing cards and making moves in their own tableau and foundation piles.
  • The game proceeds with players alternating turns until one player successfully moves all cards to their foundation piles.

Summary: Double Solitaire has been adapted into a 2 player card game where each player competes to be the first to move all cards from their tableau to the foundation piles. Enjoy the challenge of managing your own tableau while racing against your opponent to win the game!
