Court Piece (2 player card game)

Objective: Court Piece is a trick-taking card game where players aim to win specific cards in tricks to earn points.

Setup:

1. Use a standard deck of 52 cards without jokers.
2. Shuffle the deck thoroughly and deal the entire deck evenly between the two players, with each player receiving 26 cards.
3. Determine the first dealer, who will shuffle and deal the cards for the first round.

Gameplay:

1. Player 1’s Turn:

   • Player 1 starts the game by leading a card from their hand. They can play any card they choose.
   • Player 2 must then play a card of the same suit if they have one. If not, they can play any card from their hand.
   • The player who plays the highest-ranking card of the led suit wins the trick and leads the next trick.

2. Player 2’s Turn:

   • Player 2 leads the next trick by playing a card from their hand, following the same rules as Player 1.
   • The winner of each trick leads the next trick until all cards have been played.

3. Scoring:

   • After all tricks have been played, players earn points based on the cards they captured in tricks.
   • The scoring is based on specific cards:
     • Aces: 4 points each
     • Tens: 10 points each
     • Kings: 3 points each
     • Queens: 2 points each
     • Jacks: 1 point each
   • Each player tallies their points, and the player with the most points wins the round.

Adaptation for 2 Players:

• In the adaptation for 2 players, Court Piece follows the standard rules of trick-taking.
• The game continues until all cards have been played, and players tally their points at the end of each round.
• The player with the most points after several rounds wins the game.
