Couillon (2 player card game)

Objective: Couillon is a trick-taking card game where players aim to win tricks containing valuable cards.

Setup:

  1. Use a standard deck of 52 cards without jokers.
  2. Shuffle the deck thoroughly and deal the entire deck evenly between the two players, with each player receiving 26 cards.
  3. Determine the first dealer, who will shuffle and deal the cards for the first round.

Gameplay:

  1. Player 1’s Turn:

    • Player 1 starts the game by leading a card from their hand. They can play any card they choose.
    • Player 2 must then play a card of the same suit if they have one. If not, they can play any card from their hand.
    • The player who plays the highest-ranking card of the led suit wins the trick and leads the next trick.
  2. Player 2’s Turn:

    • Player 2 leads the next trick by playing a card from their hand, following the same rules as Player 1.
    • The winner of each trick leads the next trick until all cards have been played.
  3. Scoring:

    • After all tricks have been played, each player counts the total number of points they captured in tricks.
    • The scoring is based on the value of the cards won in tricks:
      • Ace: 4 points
      • King: 3 points
      • Queen: 2 points
      • Jack: 1 point
      • All other cards have no point value.
    • The player with the most points at the end of the round wins.

Adaptation for 2 Players:

  • In the adaptation for 2 players, the game follows the standard rules of Couillon, with each player taking turns leading tricks.
  • The game is played until all cards have been played, and the player with the most points wins the round.

Summary: Couillon has been adapted into a 2 player card game where players take turns leading tricks and scoring points based on the value of the cards won. With slight modifications to suit two players, Couillon offers an engaging and strategic experience for two players.
