Bezaique (2 player card game)

Objective: Bezaique is a trick-taking card game traditionally played with three or more players. However, it can be adapted for two players. The objective is to win tricks containing valuable cards.

Setup: Use a standard deck of 52 cards. Remove the 2s through 5s from the deck, leaving 32 cards. Shuffle the deck and deal 16 cards to each player.

Gameplay:

1. Player 1’s Turn: Player 1 begins by leading a card from their hand. They place it face-up in the center of the playing area.

2. Player 2’s Turn: Player 2 then plays a card, following suit if possible. If not, they can play any card from their hand. The highest-ranking card of the led suit or the highest trump card wins the trick.

3. Scoring: Points are awarded based on the cards won in tricks:

   • Aces: Each Ace won in a trick scores 4 points.
   • 10s: Each 10 won in a trick scores 3 points.
   • Kings: Each King won in a trick scores 2 points.
   • Queens: Each Queen won in a trick scores 1 point.
   • Last Trick: The player who wins the last trick scores 10 additional points.
   • Total Points: The total points scored by each player are calculated at the end of the game.

4. Player 1’s Turn: After each trick, the player who won the previous trick leads the next one.

5. End of Game: The game continues until all 16 tricks are played. The player with the highest total points wins.
