Objective: Beegar-My-Neighbour is a fun and simple card game where players try to avoid being stuck with the highest cards. Originally designed for more players, it can be adapted for two players.
Setup: Use a standard deck of 52 cards. Shuffle the deck and deal the entire deck evenly between the two players. Each player holds their cards in a face-down stack.
Gameplay:
Player 1’s Turn: Player 1 begins by flipping the top card of their stack face up into the center of the playing area. This card becomes the “active card.”
Assessing the Active Card: Player 1 looks at the active card. If it’s a numbered card (2-10), nothing happens, and the turn passes to Player 2. If it’s a face card (Jack, Queen, King, or Ace), Player 2 must draw cards from their stack equal to the rank of the active card (e.g., if the active card is a King, Player 2 draws 3 cards).
Player 2’s Turn: Player 2 repeats the process by flipping the top card of their stack face up into the center. If it’s a numbered card, nothing happens, and the turn passes back to Player 1. If it’s a face card, Player 1 must draw cards accordingly.
Continued Play: Players continue taking turns flipping cards and drawing as necessary until one player accumulates a predetermined number of cards (e.g., 10 cards).
Scoring:
End of Game: Players can agree on a set number of rounds to play, and the player with the most rounds won at the end is the overall winner.
Summary: In this adaptation of Beegar-My-Neighbour for 2 players, participants take turns flipping cards and drawing as they try to avoid accumulating too many cards. By modifying the rules to suit 2 players, Beegar-My-Neighbour offers an engaging and competitive 2 player card game experience.
